It never ceases to amaze me how many ideas there are about how to achieve a toned, lean muscular look."Use light weights, feel the muscle burn, the more reps you do the more cuts you'll have!" What a load of rubbish! The only reduction from reducing your poundage are smaller muscles. Have you ever wondered why it is that you slog at those abdominals on the sit up bench, burning them to oblivion, and '300 reps every day for month' later - the biggest cut you have is in your backside? It's simple, you don't burn fat during anabolic (lower rep - muscle building) exercise. Before you get to the fat burning zone you have to fight through your body's glycogen stores to starve your body of glycogen. Then and only then will your body turn to it's secondary source of energy - your fat reserves.
